Sources and editorial method¶
Edition 2026.10.6 brings a family of research works into a common reading collection. The papers connect their arguments, explain important differences, and identify questions that can be examined across the works. Each source retains its own version, requirements, and scope.
The source map identifies each selected document, its source edition, the SHA-256 fingerprint of the reviewed bytes, its qualification basis, and the paper section that explains its scope. A family name or version describes a lineage; the document fingerprint distinguishes the exact snapshot used here. Some long titles are shortened for readability without creating a new source edition.
The source collection¶
The collection contains two lead papers and fourteen topic studies. Governed Autonomous Institutions develops the institutional argument. The architecture synthesis compares responsibilities and relationships across the works. Each topic paper develops its subject through definitions, arguments, illustrative cases, evidence limits, and a source guide.
The editorial review covers 73 source documents. They include the definitive institutional doctrine and two supporting doctrines; MIRAGE's master, native, and reference-machine material; the CSSL and IC/POAR corpora; the AD8 master and annexes; the Freehold and Cuttlebone works; and the focused studies listed in the source map. The document count includes indexes and scope statements that govern interpretation of a corpus.
Publication edition 2026.10.6 identifies this collection. It is separate from the dates and version numbers of the underlying works. For a source-specific claim, use the edition and section identified in the relevant paper's source guide.
Reading and synthesis¶
The original editorial reading covered every selected document, including appendices, tables, examples, assumptions, and evidence qualifications. This revision compares the affected definitions, arguments, result records, and source guides with the identified snapshots. The papers consolidate overlapping explanations while retaining distinctions that affect the meaning or strength of a claim.
Where related works assign different responsibilities to a familiar term, the comparison identifies the difference. Where an earlier statement conflicts with a controlling qualification, the account uses the qualified claim. An unresolved question about compatibility, ownership, or adoption remains an open research question.
The resulting papers are conceptual expositions. They preserve the arguments needed for reading and review while excluding proprietary formulas, algorithms, exact schemas, protocols, construction procedures, and detailed product mechanisms. They are not implementation specifications or formal equivalence proofs of the complete source works.
Reading relationships between works¶
The architecture distinguishes four relationships:
| Relationship | Meaning in this collection |
|---|---|
| Explicit source contract | An identified source expressly defines a relationship within its own scope. Its implementation and verification status must be assessed separately. |
| Conceptual correspondence | Two works address related questions or responsibilities. The comparison helps frame an investigation of their similarities and differences. |
| Proposed integration | A combination is advanced for further specification and evaluation. |
| Unresolved adoption | A decision about responsibility, precedence, compatibility, or acceptance remains open. |
These labels describe the relationship being discussed. The evidence guide addresses a separate question: what supports the associated claim, whether through a specification, reference behavior, formal result, observation, or independent examination.
Examples and reported results¶
The worked examples are conceptual illustrations unless a different basis is expressly identified. They show the consequences of a distinction or assumption. Their outcomes are not deployment observations, benchmarks, or participant-study results.
Reported tests identify their propositions, premises, input bounds, outcomes, and source attribution where those details are disclosed. Source-reported execution is distinguished from a check performed for this edition. The conceptual derivations can be assessed directly under their stated premises; neither they nor the publication build establish the behavior of private implementations or a deployed institution.
The bibliography separates source works from external scholarship. External references establish relevant prior concepts and provide further reading. Claims of priority or novelty would require a broader literature review than this edition undertakes.
Editions, citations, and corrections¶
The content manifest identifies the maintained publication content by SHA-256 digest. Each PDF records its edition and content identifier. The download record gives each PDF's digest and page count. These records distinguish copies and revisions; they are not evidence of scientific correctness or ownership.
The website and PDFs are generated from the same Markdown. Corrections update that text, the changelog, and the affected downloadable editions. The build guide explains reproduction, and the review guide explains how to report a correction or counterexample.
The author statement identifies responsibility and tool assistance. The rights notice sets the terms for reading, review, and other uses of the collection.
Versioned reconciliation and current implementation evidence¶
The 73 selected research snapshots remain identified by their reviewed fingerprints.
On 10 October 2026, 72 current source files matched those bytes. The remaining
Semantic OS architecture differs only in Markdown table spacing and separators:
the reviewed fingerprint is b0ea83aa75ccffdd4ce12eb0bd8d504e504033daa8cb13d6c6993fe93ecd678e,
and the current source fingerprint is 3a6d6c6a935bc5a4a51f8e66b4036302356bcb7d8704f8b2b46fa539b2e12053.
The original reviewed bytes were recovered and verified before comparison. This
edition retains the original snapshot in the source map; no substantive architecture
change is inferred from formatting, and neither fingerprint has been silently replaced.
The implemented systems examination adds current product source and dated deployment evidence as a separate basis. The operational objects are identified by source revision and image commitment, with observation methods and limitations stated. Private runtime code and production records are withheld. The public reference is original publication code with its own fixture, methods, and expected observations. Its result does not reclassify historical source checks as newly executed or independently reviewed.
